Hello friends, and if you're here you are now reading my first blog post in three years. It feels like a nice warm hug, being back after such a long break.
So what have I been up to....?
To sum it up neatly, I've moved houses, had a family, increased said family, changed camera systems, made lots of new friends but also kept my old ones, changed my hair colour, upgraded my fashion style, took lots of photos.
And while I've lived through many events offline or 'off the blog' I was still updating my now private 'lucyrunaways' instagram, sharing my life with my friends and family. However back in March, I suddenly had the urge to be creative again so I started a new Instagram 'The Muse Photographs' and joined the photography community. This time I was focusing on techniques and camera gear and my captures. I was uploading old and new photography and I've made many new and wonderful friends.
Fast forward to July, I stumbled back to my blog, thinking, could I revive this? Do people still read blogs? I do love the short form of Instagram and the convenience, but I was starting to get conscious of the algorithm; What posts people would gravitate to? What caption is more attention grabbing? How would this post perform compared to others? Am I choosing aesthetics over creative freedom? And it started to stump my creativity and momentum.
Going through my old blog posts from 10 to 12 years ago... reminded me why I loved to blog. The photos posted not conforming to the carousel format; the more personal diary entries I had, the what I call 'long form' media. And in all honestly it felt refreshing.
I also feel I have so much more creativity here. I could post any subject I like and it can be categorised neatly on the sidebar. For Instagram I started a second account just for Food because I felt my followers would be confused seeing food in between photos of bridges or the streets.
So here we are again. I've re-designed the layout, so if you are an original 'Lucy and the Runaways' follower you may appreciate the new look. I won't be focusing on Fashion and Style like I used to back in the day (maybe that will change?). But: in truth my body has changed and I don't have the time to explore my personal style like I used to. I now gravitate towards street, events, stories or still life photography.
I will be spending the next few posts, uploading all my Fujifilm photography, maybe some old Canon ones - street, style, food, travel, personal, books... you name it. It will be chaotic but so is life.
Thank you my friends, I always appreciate you. I hope you enjoy it here!
