Hello Readers, today I will introduce my love for reading.

When I was in my 20s I used to buy physical books and have lots of storage, I believe I had those generic KALLAX Ikea book shelves that housed them. Eventually my books outgrew the shelves and started living on the floor in stacked piles. I then grew a dreaded TBR (To Be Read) pile. I always made it a goal to read one book a month, and after doing a soft count, I realised I had about 5 years worth of reading. A big shock for me, and that sparked a newfound guilt with over-consumption. 

A couple of years later, I moved houses and took wagons full of my books over. Then I moved back home, put all my books into storage; then moved out again and had very little storage space. Too much hassle. So I ended up donating alot to charity. I used to put so much weight and identity into these physical books and while I was sad at the time letting them go, eventually time moved me on and I realised I don't even remember what I owned back then. I do have a list somewhere....

Fast forward to today, and I am a happy e-reader owner. I chose my Kobo because I do love the liberty of side loaded books and the ability to borrow e-books from the library.

I've owned one for nearly three years and haven't looked back. I read faster with e-ink screens and love the backlight function and in-built dictionaries. This thing goes with me everywhere.

These are some of the books I finished reading in 2025 to 2026.

The Manga is translated Death Note. I never thought I would be reading physical form Manga due to the sheer amount of volumes available. I would need a lot of shelf space. In my Kobo I fit all 12-13 volumes and I can bookmark and zoom in when needed. It's so satisfying to read. I don't think I could watch the anime due to the horror themes but for some reason book-form is less scary.

Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982. This book was translated from Korean and sparked controversy in Korea at the time. After reading it, especially as a mum myself, I could see why as the themes involve mental health. I don't want to get too deep into it, because of the sensitive topic but it was an easy read and I thoroughly related to it. In fact, I personally felt more brave talking about my Motherhood issues with friends after having read it.

Project Hail Mary is just one of those books you cannot put down. Even if you're not very good with Science (I dropped the class in Year 10, haha), it is still an easy and fun read. Some books feel like homework. This one was pure entertainment and re-ignited my love for books again. 

And lastly, for Christmas last year I got my hands on the remote control, which I love, because well my other solutions for wireless page turners were such a hassle to pair and drained the Kobo battery so quickly. This device is so handy. I read on my walking pad, while in the kitchen cooking, while I was bottle-feeding, you name it. 

OK, I feel like I've rambled alot here. In my next few posts I want to show you how I decorated my Kobo, with lots and lots of stickers of course.
